To my frustration over the last 6 weeks i have been trying to get quotes for 2 custom aluminium windows. They are a fair size, 2.3mW x 3.8mH and 2.7mW x 2.45mH. These 2 windows sit side by side with a 90mm post inbetween them and the ceiling is angled, so the top projects from the 2.45m H on the far left, to 3.8m H on the far right. In other words the top is angled. I want 3 1200mmH casement windows in each frame. The frames i want made out of commercial rail, with a support rail a meter from the ground to sit the casements on.
My frustration comes from knowing what i want, yet suppliers want to tell me i want otherwise, or some say cant do casements "That big" while others can. Another just made up a stupid price after just looking at it. I dont believe what i am asking for is anything fancy, or "too big", I've seen windows way bigger then what i want. Am i asking too much???
Customer service at all the aluminum places i have visited was dismal. Alot had fancy show rooms with staff that were either, arrogant, "too busy" to worry bout me, or just didnt care that much. Its alomost as if it seems if you want somthing other then an ordinary square window your perceived as a pain in butt, anyone else had this????.
6 weeks later now i have one serious quote of $8.5k, after multiple follow up phone calls to chase them. Now im being told because i didnt get in earlier(because of all the orders they alledgedly had over the last week) that i now wont have the windows before christmas.
Has anyone else had difficulty with getting custom windows for their house, or was it an easy process off someone you might recommend to me. I am from the wollongong area keep in mind.
This is more of a frustration vent, but i spose im wondering is this a common theme for people going window shopping??
