Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Nov 15, 2010 7:32 am We are planning a laundry door that opens inwards, but also need a flyscreen door (which opens outwards). Does it work if we have a left hand opening door, with a right hand opening screen door? The problem is because the laundry opens onto a small landing (only 800mm), then a couple of steps. Has anyone done this? Re: Door and flyscreen door opening in different directions? 2Nov 15, 2010 7:44 am This is exactly what I've been wondering and I have decided that it should be OK. (Will still seek the door company opinion, though ... as well as wait for some response to this dilemma ). I think the worst is that you have to open the "real" laundry doors almost fully to be able to get to the door handle&key for the screen doors. This might be a bit annoying if you sort of only open the doors 3/4 of the way to get in/out. And same when coming back into the house. This might actually be worse since the security doors usually have that thingy that very strongly pushes the doors to close all the time (so you'll have to remove it). My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Door and flyscreen door opening in different directions? 3Nov 15, 2010 9:25 am Our last rental had that and it worked fine. It didn't even take any "getting used to" because it was the only logical way to arrange the doors. (If the door handles lined up it would have been really awkward one way or another to open one of the doors - you would have to walk right around it.) You have to think of the safety aspect of your landing and steps - you don't want everyone having to do something awkward to get the door open or someone is sure to fall and hurt themselves. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Follow up question - any ideas on how to set up a portable air conditioner through this kind of window? 1 6236 Hi, have purchased a house with 2 single garage doors. The Centre pillar one side sits proud to the other. Can I change 2 doors into one. Please see picture. 0 6346 yep you need a joint, foam is easiest, will look fine once rendered with a joint. 2 5234 |
