Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Nov 09, 2010 7:30 am Hi guys. We are looking for some security screens for our front, laundry and alfresco stacker doors. We like the look of the invisi-gard product Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A standard size hinged door for product and installation is approximately $700-$800...I wouldn't even want to know how much it would cost to custom make one for the stacker door Is there a cheaper product out there that looks similar while also acting as a good security measure? Does anyone else have invisi-gard doors and are they worth the dollars? Re: Quote for security doors too much?? 2Nov 09, 2010 8:08 am home sweet home Hi guys. I think you can get a look alike using powdercoated galvanised steel rather than stainless. Maybe half the price. Try Timbarra Screens in Pakenham. I'm searching but can't find it any more - I thought there was some product called Clearview (??) which basically has some super strong glass instead of mesh. Anyone knows what it's called? P.S. Have you tried any other compay, hsh? Is $700-$800 overpriced for product and installation (have you got more quotes so you can compare)? Have you tried Wynstan? I've called about 6 places and all are quoting around the same price. What I suggest would look very similar. Glass in place of mesh, they use in the USA, but it doesn't do much for ventilation. The prices are very high but that's the standard for this product. Re: Quote for security doors too much?? 9Nov 10, 2010 6:55 am our security door is like the one in the picture (crimsafe or invisigard or whatever) and it cost $700 and something, so that price is the right market rate unfortunately. we got the cheaper non-steel mesh ones for the sliding doors, they were more like $200-300 each. Re: Quote for security doors too much?? 12Nov 10, 2010 3:52 pm doorsplus.com.au last wk had a promotion at the moment. Stainless steel std security doors , 2 doors for $849, $1200 after promotion. chk out if its still there. Re: Quote for security doors too much?? 13Nov 14, 2010 8:42 pm The galvanised mesh has to be used in conjunction with a diamond grille, it doesnt have the same strength as the stainless mesh, so the door will twist and collapse without much effort. The invisi guard door uses two rubber gaskets which insulates it from the frame, this prevents any chemical reaction from happening. Re: Quote for security doors too much?? 14Nov 15, 2010 6:24 am This seems to be another area (of building a house) which is not so simple!! Found this http://www.flyscreensanddoors.com.au/supascreen.htm And this is what they say about their stuff: "Made of woven marine grade T316 stainless steel mesh powder coated to make it even less visible, and assembled into a patented super strong colour coordinated aluminium frame. This mesh can span widths of up to 1.55 metres and lengths of 3.05 metres without centre rails." "It is the toughest security system on the market without the need for bars and grilles." "Supascreen meets all the Australian Standards for barrier security products and all of our doors are available with optional triple point locking." The mesh can also be used for window screens, instead of the standard flyscreen mesh. Is the triple point locking really important?? Oh, and why is the flyscreen mesh only made in dark colours? Does it exist in white? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Quote for security doors too much?? 15Nov 15, 2010 8:16 am Lex Is the triple point locking really important?? Oh, and why is the flyscreen mesh only made in dark colours? Does it exist in white? I don't know how important the triple locking is, but I think it just strengthens the door and the lock, so that if the door is pulled when it's locked, the stress is evened out over the three locks. Stronger door = better security, I guess??? ours came with triple point lock, we didn't have to ask for it. I'm not sure if it comes in white, but I do know that darker colours are easier to see out of. have you ever tried looking through a white sunscreen blind? it;s a lot more difficult than looking through a black one. also, the black, I think is a little less obvious and gives the invisible look that is such a big selling feature, everyone wants the door to look like it's not there. not sure how successful that would be with a white mesh.
