Lunchtime - that was one of the reasons we chose a highlight over the doors rather then sidelights. We rented a house with clear sidelights and it drove us insane. Visitors could see straight into the house. Although we have clear glass our foyer is arranged so that you cannot see any rooms from there - you physically have to walk into the hallway to access any other rooms. Lol plus the fact that we are 70-ish metres from the road and have a big electric gate that we have to open before people can come in made it pretty safe to have some clear panels. I think some H1's have bought frosted film from Bunnings with success? Some things are worth waiting for. Lunchtime you can also get the cheapo film from Ikea about $6 for a roll... or perhaps look at getting them tinted...? I we looked at getting opaque glass for the sidelights PD wanted to charge us $500... I don't think so! I am also looking at getting some custom decals made to fit into our side lights... Re: Show me your FRONT DOOR... 12Nov 06, 2010 9:48 am I actually wanted just a solid wood door with no glass, the one which looks like it has slats across it, but the front hallway is quite big and would have been so so dark, so we went for the glass. I was going to have opaque glass, but wanted to see how we'd go with normal glass and then if we need to later, put a film on it. I think we will be fine as our house is quite high from the road and the portico is really deep. You can''t see in unless your up against the glass with your hands on it looking in. (as you can see in the pic, I'm standing right in front of it, and all you can see is refelection) The only time will be at night if all the lights are on, but shouldn't be too much of a drama because of how our house is positioned.
