Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Nov 03, 2010 1:19 pm Hi guys, im hoping to get some advice on how this problem can be fixed. As you can see from the pictures, when the sliding doors are fully closed, they do not sit flush with the frames and there are rather large gaps. Bedroom 4: Door fully closed. Looks wonky. My guess is that the brickwork was not laid fully vertical and is the cause of this problem. Which means that if they have to knock down the brickwork and redo correctly, it's gonna cause delays in our completion date. I believe they just sanded the edges down on the doors where it was crooked - we didn't have frames around them. So now, if we close the door to the other end, the wonky-ness is still there, but we have no need to do that. Never found out if it was the frame or not that was crooked... Re: Issues with sliding robe doors - large gaps 3Nov 03, 2010 2:57 pm Wow 10cm is huge! i sure hope they can fix this problem for us easily and fast. 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Issues with sliding robe doors - large gaps 4Nov 03, 2010 3:33 pm That brickwork sure does look heaps wrong, did you not notice b4? I would not accept a crooked wall... big mistake on behalf of the supervisor. Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Issues with sliding robe doors - large gaps 5Nov 03, 2010 4:41 pm To be honest no we did not notice anything wrong with the brickwork before....it looked straight to us. In hindsight we should have called in an independent inspector after the brick stage, which we now regret. My advice to others is get your spirit level and check every wall as soon as they go up. Still waiting for reply from builder...... 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Issues with sliding robe doors - large gaps 6Nov 03, 2010 11:59 pm to me it looks like these need to be adjusted ,in pics 1 and 4 where i can see the door in the head track is not right (parallel). What happens if door is pushed to the other side jamb does the gap end up the opposite way round Re: Issues with sliding robe doors - large gaps 7Nov 04, 2010 12:32 am The door just needs to be adjusted. Each door sits on 2 runners, these have an adjustment screw that winds each runner (wheel) up or down, this changes the angle of the door. It's a very easy fix, and should have been done by the installers. We have the same doors, and just had to adjust ours for the floors to go under. Very easy, I did it myself, you just screw up or down on the side that need adjusting Re: Issues with sliding robe doors - large gaps 10Nov 04, 2010 2:17 pm ok now i feel abit silly for sending the email to my CLO telling her of my concerns (sounding worried and all) and telling them to check it out asap. plus i sent her a few pics as well..... 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Issues with sliding robe doors - large gaps 12Nov 20, 2010 8:00 am On a two door robe, you can adjust either door to line up with one end only. An ideal fit on a two door robe would be for either door to sit correctly at both ends. If the top and bottom opening sizes are different ( and they frequently are even in new homes)..you need to know how to go about it, to fix the problem. With a robe with three or more doors, just adjust the end doors to the only wall its going to fit against. This is all thats needed. We dont cut holes in your floor coverings or skirtings. We use screws, not glue and nail guns. This is to make it easier to move or change around later if required. We dont use gyprock door panels, only melamine.
