Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Oct 19, 2010 8:10 pm Hey guys - my first post! Doing a reno in Southport QLD and the old windows have had it. Not sure what colour to replace the windows with. It is white cladding on the outside and will be painting the inside white too. Thinking either silver or white for window frames. Suggestions?? Then there is the issue of the security fly screens. Is it possible to get screens with a silver finish - like stainless steel/aluminum - I want to get something like crim safe - but not keen on how the black of the screen will look with the white on both the interior and exterior of the house. I want a security screen for a little bit of security protection (and I hate the diamond grill screens, also we will be getting an alarm) but largely it is so that the cat doesn't claw the cheap screens to pieces. Any recommendations on suppiers on the Gold Coast? Thanks in advance Belinda Reno in Southport - QLD. So much work to do and timeline has already been pushed back!!! Still To Do - security system, security screens, tree removal (cocus palms), internal works, lighting, ensuite. Re: Window colour and security screen colour -Gold Coast 2Oct 27, 2010 6:06 pm Belinda, Im have been in the security screen business for about 25 years although part time for the past 13 and have a few suggestions for you. On the Gold Coast you have to have painted aluminium. Dont go with anodized as it corrodes quickly. I think you can choosed any dulux powder coat colour you want. Contrasting colours are good. I like the dark grey colours as they contrast well with the lighter ones. As for crimsafe type screens, the black mesh looks great. Silver looks really cheap and reflects the light. The crimsafe type mesh not reflect the sun and cuts out a little sun also. Just be aware that there are a lot of products out there like crimsafe and are not very good. I like crimsafe and prowlerproof. They are the pick. Probably the latter as they are made from mill finish aluminium, welded and ground flat then powdercoated.. A nice finish. You have no photo with your post. Best I can say is to remove an A&L flyscreen don't be afraid to distort the frame almost like a trapezium.
