Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 19, 2010 12:01 am HI Ed, a number of months ago I posted an email about having problems with a certain window company (who shall remain nameless for now) and the poor quality of their windows. The windows in question are aluminium awning, with the major problem being that we have gaps at the mitres, ie: daylight is visible. The window manufacturer has proposed to fix this problem with silicon, but we are not completely satisfied with this outcome, as we have paid quite a bit for the windows. Almost feels like we have been given second hand windows! What are your thoughts on this method of "botching up" the windows? Do you believe silicon will be ok, say for the next 30yrs??? Is this standard practice??? If only I had I known about your company prior to our builder purchasing the above "crap", life would be sweeter!!! many thanks Sabby Re: Question for Ed pls 2Aug 19, 2010 9:22 am sabby32 HI Ed, a number of months ago I posted an email about having problems with a certain window company (who shall remain nameless for now) and the poor quality of their windows. Check their showroom windows to see if they have the same problem. Silicon is not the issue, it will last if it's done properly, I would be most concerned about possible water ingress. The windows were tested or they can't sell them, and the ones you have should have been manufcatured to the tested specification. I can guess the name...
