Re: Changing Our Painted Entry Door to Stained Timber 23Aug 03, 2010 7:42 pm thanks sweetime ............I've got a lot to consider. Nothing with this build was easy It just makes me sooo mad that because I didn't think through the architrave issue way back when, I'm now unable to finish what I originally wanted Another 'oh well' moment . Far too many with this build, as far as I'm concerned !!!!!!!!!!!! Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Changing Our Painted Entry Door to Stained Timber 24Aug 03, 2010 8:39 pm Funny you should bring this up Southies - We have the same dilema. I have double entry doors that I want changed to timber and we also have painted door frame. No idea what we are going to do but I will get my timber doors!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Changing Our Painted Entry Door to Stained Timber 25Aug 03, 2010 10:19 pm In that case bel I'll will hold off on a decision until you resolve your doors . I want to see 1st how yours work out Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Changing Our Painted Entry Door to Stained Timber 27Aug 06, 2010 12:43 am Southies, as promised here are 2 pics of our front door for you to see... We have 'white lustre' aluminium window frames (sort of a pearl white), and the door frames are painted gloss white. Gutters and fascia is Monument and roof tiles are Graphite (dark grey) if that makes a difference. The handle on there is just the dummy builders handle. We'll be having Gainsborough tri-lock lever and dummy set in satin. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. Handover 8 September 2010 Re: Changing Our Painted Entry Door to Stained Timber 28Aug 06, 2010 7:17 am Many, many thanks Oceanus2 ! I see how your architraves tie in with your facade. They match your window frames Yours work! I don't think mine will, as our window frames are in white birch & not jasper I'm thinking that this post-handover task is a no-goer afterall. I could kick myself for not thinking about the architraves when I had the chance Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Changing Our Painted Entry Door to Stained Timber 32Aug 10, 2010 2:46 pm Apart from the general response on this thread that I shouldn't change my painted door to a stained timber door , it seems the cost is prohibitve anyway . THe big C door company, quoted $1200 to supply the exact same door in a rosewood veneer on an MDF substrate - what utter rubbish !!!! That definitely 'puts a nail in the coffin' of changing the door Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Changing Our Painted Entry Door to Stained Timber 33Aug 11, 2010 8:10 pm I love your facade Southies and your front door was my inspiration to choose Jasper as well!! I love my front door (even though it still has only one coat of paint on it!!) Black on light wood does look good.
