Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 02, 2010 4:44 pm Hey all, I'm on the hunt to find a door to cover my walk in robe as there wasn't enough space for an internal sliding door or a traditional swing door, so what I wanted was a sliding door that sits on the outside, but I'd also like it to be a mirror - in my current place I have floor to ceiling heigh wardrobe mirror doors, but they're sliding doors for a standard robe rather than a walk in robe. Now one that I've come across and absolutely LOVE is this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ However I can only find it in italy... and i'm not exactly prepared to import a door internationally Has anyone seen this style of door before anywhere else? Ikea or places like that? Or can anyone think of something similar they could suggest? Re: Mirror Door? 2Aug 02, 2010 4:57 pm Hah.. seek and you shall find. For those interested, a nice solution at ikea! http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/30163038 edit: just realised it's not a stand alone door, haha, need to be the unit to go with it! The idea is that there are 2 thin steel rods at top and bottom of the window frame on the inside, and the glass is somehow attached to the rod, but so that it can easily slide left or right (but not slide by strong winds managing to blow sideways). In the end, I figured that such thing doesn't exist. Ikea might have some separate components, but it would be a big compromise to get the look and function that was required Anyone heard of any glass/window/other company making these things to custom order? I had a look at that catalogue, mac, but I don't know what am I looking at ie. if that's "it". Best to make inquiries once (if!) we get the house ... It has to be light. The rods/sliding rail would be about 4-5cm from the top and the bottom reveals. The panel width would be only half od the window width (so it can cover 1/2 of the window). I was also thinking of *** and just getting some kind of plastic for the panel, or rigid "fabric" (but can't think of any!), if I could make any use of the stuff that Ikea has ... I looked yesterday and quite a few specialise in mirrored doors. You could get an expert out to give you some "expert advice". I am also getting wardrobe doors installed at the moment. Mirrored doors come in framed and unframed. I am not sure which is better long term? Any experience? Re: Mirror Door? 11Aug 05, 2010 10:41 pm the door shown in the first post is not something you find in your local paper . It's dorma manet system or similar with a toughened or toughened laminated glass perhaps mirrastar there is no frame or backing board it is glass only Re: Mirror Door? 12Aug 06, 2010 3:32 pm Thats cool, I have in my house design a "secret passage"for my young daughter. Its a full length mirror in her WIR and it opens up to the bathroom which has the same mirror/door. Am hoping to make it so that no one knows its actually a door! My daughter wanted a secret passage and this is what we thought of! Re: Mirror Door? 13Aug 06, 2010 3:41 pm Thats soo cool Ross!
