For those of you with pets (particularly cats), what do you consider the most suitable window furnishings to be? Please don’t include plantation shutters, as these are GORGEOUS but simply way too expensive for our budget. Also, don’t include those pull down blind thingos. I hate those. Lol.
- Curtains? I love NICE curtains (not cheap blah ones), but 2 drawbacks are they tend to get absolutely covered in cat fur and are somewhat difficult to clean easily, and also my cats sometimes climb the curtains, which leaves little claw holes all over them. A good point is that the cats can get behind the curtains and look out the window, which they love to do. And also they’re good at blocking out light, which I need.
- Timber blinds (horizontal ones)? I like the look of these, and I don’t THINK the cats could wreak too much damage on them…hopefully not. They may get their feet caught though I suppose. The only issue is they’re annoying when put onto floor to ceiling windows that double as sliding glass doors to a balcony, patio or courtyard, as you have to have them up all the time you want to open the doors, etc.
- Vertical blinds? These look quite nice when they’re new and clean, although they do remind me a bit of a dentist’s office, heheh. Also, the cats could possibly mangle these a bit. Or at least get the little chain things all twisted. Also they don’t block out light that well in my experience.
Any suggestions from fellow cat-parents? Lol.
