I'm asking for it now and ask them to send me a photo Re: Is this gate too expensive ? 4Jul 07, 2010 9:38 pm confirmed it's timber, 1.2 in width plus 0.4 wing, $500 ! is it expensive ? anyone give me some confidence in taking this quote ? Re: Is this gate too expensive ? 5Jul 07, 2010 9:45 pm An unpainted timber picket gate 900mm wide and 1800mm high is $79 at Bunnings- that's without labour and the wing area which will involve concrete footings for the upright posts I assume.....up to you if you feel that it is worth it! I'd ask them to give a breakdown of product costs and labour component... Get a breakdown kie DM says, that way you are assured of what is expected of the tradesman and what you should get for your money - excactly. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Is this gate too expensive ? 8Jul 08, 2010 1:09 pm Thank you all !! That's very helpful to me !!! THANK YOU !! I'm about to write to them right now for more details . Re: Is this gate too expensive ? 10Jul 08, 2010 3:18 pm borg I wouldnt be spending $500 on gate that is not going to last long. If made from steel and it can be opened and closed and also has a lock and is failry secure then 500 sounds ok. I agree! I just got email from fence****, the gate details are " a treated pine timber gate, 6'4" height, 1.2m width, come with a hand hole and a lock latch, plus installation " , seems like no paddlock at all ! Are these two expensive gate quotes reasonable ? Re: Is this gate too expensive ? 12Jul 08, 2010 4:27 pm I think it's far over priced. Get more quotes and get them to state exact details and measurements.
