Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 01, 2010 2:31 pm Hi looking to either get my windows in my bedroom replaced or have that refitted ontop of the existing windows. Just wondering which one is cheaper? Also as i'm on the 1st floor - the trams are making a bit of noise and stress for me at home. Wondering what other ways to soundproof my bedroom. Using soundproof plasterboard with sound batts or what else can i do? i made a mistake of misjudging the sound from the trams. Re: Double Glazed Windows 2Jul 01, 2010 3:56 pm I think secondary glazing (with real windows) or replacement double glazed windows will be about the same price. I think replacement will add more value to your home. Try the windows first, it will be most of your problem. Get glazing with say laminated glass in one pane and say 4mm clear in the other. Differential thickness makes a bigger difference. But if laminated is too dear, just ask for 6mm clear as the actual plastic interlayer makes only a very small difference.
