Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jun 13, 2010 11:45 am Hi, We are having double glazed, double hung windows, and would like to have square set gyprock around the windows (so no architrave). My question is this - Do i order windows without reveals? if so, then the windows would need to be fixed straight to the frame? Is this correct. i have tried searching the net for fitting instructions etc. but to no avail. Any informed help greatly appreciated. thanks. Re: Square set windows (no reveal?) 2Jun 13, 2010 2:06 pm don't quote me, but i think you still need the reveal, you just have to get the right size. the window ppl might be able to help. I think if they are 10mm less then the plasterer can use a P50 or similar to run the plaster up next to it. It really depends on your window supplier... we supply a 10mm thick reveal into a 20mm pocket which allows the gyprock to be inserted alongside. There are other systems, so ask you supplier. It is basically a steel stem thats fixed/screwed to the window frame edge (where the reveal would normally sit) the stem is then screwed to the studs and plastered over as its only about 1mm thick. I tried to attach a photo that I just took of it but the board attachment quota has been reached. PM me if you like and I'll email to you. Cheers and good luck, Brad ------ Re: Square set windows (no reveal?) 6Jun 17, 2010 2:50 pm Visionarii Brad Hi, We occasionally use a fixing lug where a reveal is not required and fixing through the frame is not possible. it is part of the uPVC fixing suite but quite adaptable to be used with aluminium. Cheers and good luck, Brad ------ Yes this is available, but it would severely damage the energy performance of aluminium by making the exposed window surface area inside the home much greater. You may be able to use it successfully if you put a thermal break between it and your window. I don't think it will support a skim coat of plaster as it will expand differently and would be easily damaged. I have seen it painted. Would work well with PVC. Tel. 1800 326 326 No idea about the driveway question, but your price for a house that size including landscaping seems very good! 1 6159 Thank you so much. This has been very helpful. We definitely wish to settle and get these people out of our life. They are trying to charge us interest on late… 7 14263 There is evidence of water on the head reveals. That could have happened during the build, or may be happening currently. There are water stains above a couple of windows… 2 3830 |
