Hi Everyone
We are about to start building in QLD, on the Sunshine Coast with Plantation homes.
The quote that they have provided us with in terms of insulation refers to R1.5 batts to external walls and R3.5 batts to roof space. We want to make the house as environmentally friendly as we can. As we are moving up from Sydney and I am originally from Ireland, I am a little concerned of how hot it will get there in peak summer. I read that installing glasswool R6 if you want to keep cool. Is this correct? What kind of R would you go for to keep a house in cool and what product to be environmentally friendly?
In relation to carpets, we were quoted foam underlay and there was no detail of what type of carpet. Again I would like to use as environmentally friendly carpets as possible. What underlay and what type of carpets are best?
House Paint; Finally in relation to paint, I want to choose paints that are not harmful to my families health and are environmentally friendly. For internal paint, what are good environmentally friendly choices or what should I look out for in a good paint? For external paint, I read that reflective paint is good as it helps with keeping the house cool and good for environment. Is this true and what would you advise for painting the outside of the house?
If you have any contacts for these products or services on the Sunshine Coast and could send them through, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
