Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 May 14, 2010 9:11 am We'll be building about 800m to 1000m to the ocean and I just love timber framed windows. Our friends told us to go with the plastic they seem to be using in Germany for quite some time but I really like timber. Can someone please tell me if timber is any good when we're so close to the sea??? Thank you so much in advance!!!! Research the coating you are going to use and make sure it can withstand the conditions. Marine grade clears are the best way to go. If you are going to paint the wood, then maybe think about not using wood, that way you don’t need as much maintenance.
