Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 May 01, 2010 2:25 pm Hi. I had some quite expensive Comfort Plus frameless shugg style windows installed by the window manufacturer and several of the panes spontaneously cracked within a month of the installation, during the 3 day 45 degree heatwave in Melbourne last summer (Jan 2009). Can someone advise if they have ever heard of this problem occurring with Comfort Plus glass. Also, if I could be pointed in the direction of some supporting documentation please. I paid the builder to put in double glazed windows, but instead I have been left with cracked single glazed windows and a whole heap of other substitutions and defective work! I have no direct experience, but a friend who is in windows had the problem with Comfortplus around the time of your purchase. Take it up with Viridian. PM me if they don't respond and I will find out what he did to sort it out. I have tried to contact them last year by phone and also fax but they never responded. Their customer service is quite limited from what I can gather! I would love to hear what happened with your friend in the meantime, if possible. Re: Cracked Comfort Plus Windows 4May 02, 2010 7:21 pm singlemum Thanks Ed, I'll give them a call again on Monday. Partial shadows cause the most problems http://www.viridianglass.com/Viridian%2 ... 020209.pdf Re: Cracked Comfort Plus Windows 7May 04, 2010 1:30 pm Thanks for the Viridian link, mac64. It's just the explanation I've been looking for...I don't think I'll use this glass again. To think that I've paid for double glazing and received this headache! And yes, suh, it is definitely a pain to clean..also very expensive to have it professionally cleaned because they can't use their usual products or techniques..so you pay more, once again! Re: Cracked Comfort Plus Windows 8May 04, 2010 1:43 pm ComfortPlus is not double glazing. If your contract says double glazing and you got single pane ComfortPlus then you have a case to have your windows repalced as per the contractual requiremnts. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Cracked Comfort Plus Windows 9May 17, 2010 4:51 pm I'm not sure I can afford more legal action with the ******* builder... I will leave it to the Building Commission to deregister him over the uncapped gas pipes, uncapped sewerage pipe, illegal plumbing internally etc etc...the window substitution was only a small part of a much bigger renovation disaster. The glazing company are now suggesting SolTech instead of Comfort Plus. Apparently SolTech is toughened, 6mm, comes in near identical neutral colour, but doesn't have quite as good thermal qualities as Comfort Plus. It is apparently more expensive though... not sure how much. Any comments?? This means that the Low-E surface will be exposed and difficult to clean.
