Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 05, 2010 4:28 pm Hi, does anyone have an idea of rough costs for stacker sliding aluminium doors? I've got a space 3660 wide, and need doors 2500 high. All the stackers I've seen are 3 door, could you do 4 doors in that space? Reason I ask is I may need to maintain the look like the rest of the apartments here, I need to check with the Body Corp. Any recommends for Melbourne companies would be handy if people have had doors done. Thanks for any suggestions. Cheers. Re: Stacker sliding doors 5Mar 16, 2010 12:59 pm Hi Led, We are getting 2 x 3 panel stacker doors in our new place in Adelaide and the retail price we got from Trend was around $2900 a unit. This was for their Quantum range which is their better quality unit. Our price was for a 3.6m x 2.4m with double glazing and built in fly screen. This is for the powder coated aluminium model. The anodised aluminium version added $1600 to each unit from memory. I don't recall seeing any 4 panel stackers from anyone, not sure if the door would get too heavy to pull with an extra panel added into the mix Re: Stacker sliding doors 6Mar 17, 2010 7:21 pm We have stacker doors that fit a 4.4 metre x 2.4 metre opening. They are 6 panel system that opens from the centre and doors slide over each other towards the fixed panels at each side. They look fantastic and will include fly screens once complete. Not sure of the individual cost as they were part of our window package through Rylock, but they look and feel very solid. Love them. Re: Stacker sliding doors 7Mar 18, 2010 11:12 am We do all the above except 4 panels where 3 slide one way. You say you need to maintain the look... you could use a 4 door bi-parting slider with the centre 2 panels opening. Seems like a really cool idea and we're looking at getting security screens also. Has anyone seen this before and do you know how the doors and/or screens lock together in the corner ? They are from Renma. Re: Stacker sliding doors 12Mar 24, 2010 8:40 am I have ordered my sliding stacker from Vantage Windows in Cheltenham. A very smooth sliding action, very robust and not chunky at the same time, you can really give it a good shove. My opening is around 4m and it will be able to slide completely into the wall cavity. The showroom is the best window showroom I have ever seen. I have been to some showrooms where they can't be bothered changing the broken or stiff winders in the display, not a very good advertisement for the product. Re: Stacker sliding doors 13Mar 27, 2010 8:18 pm We have a 3.9m opening (3 moving panels that slide into a cavity) and 4.5m (3 panels and one fixed) and a 5.4m opening (2 sliding and 1 fixed either side of the central opening). We had originally wanted the 4 or 6 panel all sliding in one direction for the 5.4m opening but this would mean quite a wide track system which you will need to take into account to accomodate all of the panels. Having a central opening halved the width of the track system - just keep this in mind if all doors are stacking in the same direction. The 4.5m is $2100 (black powder coated aluminium) - don't have the breakdown for the other two doors. Mel - jumping in feet first to my first owner build!! Cheers We have put these stackers door in, one door has a groove going from top to bottom that the other door closes into. We are so happy with these doors they have opened up the room to the deck. And interesting you've got the window spashback too. We're looking at doing that, not for the view, but to bring in the light into the kitchen and keep the overhead cupboards. Can your company do this?? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks Ed. Re: Stacker sliding doors 18Apr 12, 2010 6:17 pm Polo Hi Ed, Can you assist with my query please, after handover I want to make the middle sliding door panel bigger as it is quite small, is there a less expensive alternative way to enlarge this instead of getting a brand new unit?? Can your company do this?? http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm155/belgrave2008/House%20Construction/WindowsInstalled-03032010006.jpg Thanks Ed. If you make the middle bigger you have to make the fixed panel bigger too on the left hand side or the door can't open full width. Then your door will be non-symmetrical as the other fixed panel will need to be be smaller. Will cost more then a new door and look silly. You need to change the whole unit now... either a stacker, or a 2 panel door. I'm not sure whether my builder will allow me to change the door at this stage of the build. Would you know roughly cost to change it after handover?? Thanks Ed. for your assistance. Yes, you can change it any time. Not sure of the cost as I am away at the moment. Email me and I will answer later this week.
