Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Feb 23, 2010 8:59 am Hi All Am replacing first floor windows in bedroom and ensuite. The bedroom one is about a metre square (fixed panel with louvres) and the ensuite is 2 * awnings with fixed panel above. Have been advised scaffolding will be required and obviously more than one worker but total quote to install is $2k including GST (EXCLUDING SUPPLY). Am in Sydney but this seems heaps to me. Is this reasonable? Thanks Re: Cost to install First Floor Windows 2Feb 24, 2010 6:05 pm I would need more details as to what's involved. If it was a house under construction timber frame stage I would say. Scaffold hire = $125 . Cost to pick it up, errect, pull down, return = $300 Install x3 windows ($50 each) = $150 TOTAL $575 If your pulling out a window and trying to get one back in. Scaffold hire = $125 . Cost to pick it up, errect, pull down, return = $300 Remove window = $60-$80 per man, per hour. Install window = $60-$80 per man, per hour. TOTAL = ???? * How are the current windows fixed in ? (easy to remove or a nightmare) * How will the new windows be fixed in ? (easy to install or a pain) * Will brickwork, render, plasterboad or timber, be damaged taking them out ? * Will brickwork, render, plasterboad or timber, need to be done to get them in ? * If they damage a window while putting it in, will you expect them to pay to fix it ? * If they break glass while installing them, will you expect them to reglaze it at their cost ? * If it leaks are you going to expect them to come back and fix it ? * If it leaks and damages your property will you expect them to cover that ? If the scaffold is $425, is $1575 enough to cover the pay of two tradies for 1/4 to a full days work and cover all the what if's ? Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7298 That's a fantastic result! Happy you got it sorted out. cheers Simeon 6 8644 CDC Housing Code 3 When to apply Floor Area external face of wall vs Gross Floor Area internal face of wall.
