Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Feb 17, 2010 9:11 pm Hi everyone, this is my first time posting. I want to have a wave pivot door as my entrance, It would better match my garage door if it was cedar. I would like the wave to look like this ~ going from high to low. Unfortunately M&B only supply the cedar wave in the opposite direction going from low to high (even though it is shown like this ~ in one of their brochures. They have offered to make a custom made door for $2000 extra. They also offer a Victorian Ash door with the wave going in the direction I want, however, I'm not sure it could be stained to match my cedar timber garage which is going to be stained dark oak. Really stewing over this one. Any knowledgable wood people out there, can you help me? Re: Wave Pivot door - Cedar or Vic Ash 2Feb 19, 2010 12:31 pm Hi cedar is a beautiful timber , and you are getting it stained Dark Oak. Tas oak or Vic ash are very similar and are used widely for doors , this can also be stained Dark oak , if the doors are not side by side ,then the difference between the grains will not be noticed . Just get somebody experienced with the stains to match the colours between the two doors. They will make 'any' design you wish, you name it and they'll make it. Timber choice is yours too! A young bloke on the stand does all their design work on computer, he's really switched on and extremely enthusiastic. Still hoping my budget will stretch as I was quoted $1500-2000. They had all the designs at the show and to be totally honest I would find it extremely difficult to choose just one. Good luck Re: Wave Pivot door - Cedar or Vic Ash 4Feb 21, 2010 12:28 pm Many thanks for your help. Think I will go the victorian ash rather than pay the extra. We are building for the first time, I thought it would be a lot easier than this. Sometimes I think you make so many decisions you get to a point you just can't decide any more. This forum is great for the helpful advice you can pick up. I’m restoring all my 40yr old windows and I want to install seals around the casements. I’ve sanded back and oiled the frames with sikkens. My plan is to box up inside… 0 6510 I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing.
