Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Feb 15, 2010 10:24 pm A whole lotta people on this forum have started their posts with "I know this is a dumb question but ...". I've never done that til now! But here goes ... I know this is a dumb question, but can someone please enlighten me on the rights and wrongs of painting windows and doors different colours on the insides and out? Basically, our dilemma is that most of the outside of our house will be clad in stained timber (radial sawn battens and shadowclad), with timber framed windows (most likely hoop pine). We're throwing in a bit of colourbond for good measure, but don't know what colour. Our windows on the front of the house are a design feature (round!) so they have to be treated with respect. We really like the look of stained timber windows on the outside, and feel that anything else would clash with our cladding. But we are feeling quite ambivalent about having the same look inside. I am leaning towards black veneer for our cabinetry, and I think this would look infinitely if all our frames were painted white. I can see that in general, it might work to paint window frames inside and stain them outside, but our doors include a stacking glass bi-fold and another set of double glass doors. I don't reckon that's gonna work. What to do? All ideas cheerfully considered. e. For your reference Performance Labels: Window assemblies in housing, except timber windows, must be labelled so the label can be seen when it is in situ. For timber… 6 7711 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17855 |
