Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Feb 15, 2010 9:45 pm Why are they sooo expensive?! They cost more than the damn doors!! *faints* Has anyone added flyscreens to their bifolds? And at what cost for what size? Im interested to see whether retrofitted flyscreens are a cheaper option? Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 3Feb 17, 2010 10:55 am The flyscreens are around $2500 each at a minimum so far, but if they can be retrofitted than thats alright as Id rather spend the $6k on something else to begin with I had a look at the Centor website and just submitted off a price request Thanks Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 8Feb 18, 2010 10:39 am Hmmm.........I'd be a bit reluctant to spend that much on something one or other of my BIL's is BOUND to walk through at the first opportunity. Or does that sort of money buy a p*ssed-BIL-proof screen? Cheers zeke Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 9Feb 18, 2010 11:13 am zeke! Apparently if someone walks through them they are easy to reinstall or something. Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 10Feb 18, 2010 12:00 pm when i was looking i found timber bifolds, 3 panel and to have the integrated flyscreen was $1000 more. I just couldn't do it either. Not sure what i'll do if the flies get annoying Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 11Feb 18, 2010 12:26 pm Apparently bugs dont like moving air, so Im thinking I might add a fan to the alfresco in the hopes it will combat most of the pesky little things so I dont need to worry about fly screens ..... Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 12Feb 18, 2010 6:32 pm We don't have issues with bugs. Fan outside, evap cooling inside..... The screens weren't available when we built, but the service guy from canterbury tells me they canbe retrofitted easily, so if we decide we want them, we can get them. I think he said if you walk into them, they automatically retract... Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 13Feb 19, 2010 8:47 pm Hi Bam, we have the Canterbury bifolds with the flyscreen. M charged us $3200 for the flyscreen which seemed insane at the time but I must say I couldn't have the bifolds without it. We use the screen nearly every day. We open the single door of them and pull one of flyscreens across which gives you some breeze without the insects. Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 14Feb 20, 2010 10:20 am Thanks jspitz I think Im going to see if our budget blows out before commiting to them, but I can definately see the pro's of getting them Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Our Crazy Owner Builder Journey! Re: Bifold Door Flyscreens 15Feb 20, 2010 10:47 am $2,500 - $3,200 - F** ME Come on in I say to the flies!!! I can't afford that in a blue fit! what a scam! WE just got the flyscreens on all other doors (cept front) and try not to leave sliders open unless entertaining, I agree they don't like the cooler on like KEK says, because it pushes the air out, I don't think they like to fly against it, so that's our flyscreen! We just had CAFE PVC blinds put right round our alfresco too - that was $4,500!! so no budget left for flyscreens I'm afraid... I'm yet to take pics... A thankful person is a happy person.
