Ok - so I love electronics and technology, the house reno has wired all the windows for electronic blinds (I may not be able to afford them - but at least its wired for them!)
So the alarm will also have an RFID reader at the front / rear door - connected to an electronic strike so that the door can be easily unlocked when carrying those heavy parcels of groceries.....
Front door is easy, I can find an electronic strike suitable - its a wooden door frame, simple.
The back door is more complex. Its an aluminium cafe door style - ie. 4 panels, the left most panel opens like a normal door, the other 3 panels can all be opened / folded to allow for a mssive entry / entertainment.
The lock is on the left most panel, the strike is on the next panel, which folds out amongst the other 3. Being aluminium, the frames are basically hollow, and I have already inspected them, it is easy to run a wire through the 3 panels to the position where the strike plate is / should be.
However the lock / strike panel is different to a normal door, and the whole lock mechanism might need replacing with something else to allow for an electronic strike to be installed.
The local manufacturer had no clue on electronic strike plates, only the advice that they dont do it, and others who have requested it, have fitted it afterwards... Big Help eh?
So who would specialise in electronic strikes for doors - reckon if I go to the local locksmith stores in the area - I'd find the old lockpickers / key cutters who have never seen anything before... Im looking for a specialised company that can offer good advice.
Of course, Melbourne Northern suburbs would be handy I suppose, so they could look at, as part of any solution / fitout.
Suggestions to try?
Thanks
