Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Nov 06, 2009 1:42 pm Hello I am becoming increasingly frustrated with my cavity sliding doors. 3 out of 5 are not running properly and are scraping across the paintwork. I have tried lifting them to get them on the track but have had no success. Will it be necessary to get a builder/carpenter in? Thank you Re: cavity doors scraping 2Nov 06, 2009 3:38 pm Do they slide and so rub against the frame or are they stuck as though the runner wheels have come off their track? If the latter it may be just relocating by lifting and getting the wheels back in the track. if the door is out of alignment and scrapes against the frame then it will be necessary to realign the doors. You will need to take off one of the headboards attached to the frame at the top of the door, this should simply unscrew but it may need to be knocked out if it has been painted over so the paint seals need to be broken. With the head board off this will expose the two runner mechanisms. These adjust the door for height and square running. Note that if the door is scraping on say the left lower front side nearest you then you adjust the right hand wheel by pulling it towards you. you will get the drift of it once you have had a try. then replace the headboard. This is not a difficult exercise and should require no more than a screwdriver and a suitable spanner. And stand on a ladder or some steps not a chair to do it. cheers Hey guys, what’s everyone opinion on James Hardie linea direct fix to frame? Would this be the most common method and anybody ever had any problems down the track? 0 5143 Firstly, if your house is still under builder's warranty (10 years in Victoria) you should have no need to crawl into roof space but let the builder handle it, unless you… 3 5638 Hi Stuey, think you’ve got a couple of options here you’d just need to decide your preference/which options suits best.
