Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Nov 02, 2009 9:23 pm We are looking for options to cover the ensuite entrance (highlighted area). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The reason we have decided to cover it now is to improve cooling/heating efficiency (one of the things we hadn't thought at the time of construction). We have looked at the vinyl clothing folding door (image below) and have been quoted around $600 for a 2.3m(h)x1m(w) opening, including installation. However, I have been unable to think of an alternative. Does the right wall (as per photo) align with the other all (I see that it has been stepped in abit from the left side wall). What is in the door that is highlighted by your blue lines. (I'm really bad at explaining things. Is it your WIR and then a bit further down the passage is that where the ensuite starts? Re: plz suggest a door/covering 3Nov 05, 2009 4:41 pm Could you post a picture of that part of your floor plan so it's easier to see where walls line up ? Looking at the bulkhead on top, it looks like the wall will run into the wall on the other side (and not the WIR entrance). If that's the case, couldn't you put in any door in a frame ? You could even get really fancy and put in a frameless pivot door, similar to what's shown in this thread (but in timber) viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22704&hilit=frameless+glass+doors&start=80 Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: plz suggest a door/covering 4Nov 09, 2009 10:38 am ![]() I saw this post the other day and still thinking about what options you have apart from the one you have already looked into. Thanks for your post Dollar. And yes - the right wall doesnt align with the other wall. I am uploading the floor plan next which will better show where we want the door to go. I haven't had much luck finding anyone online. Also, here is the floor plan for the MB which hopefully better highlights where we want the door to go. Thanks. ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Built PD Beaumont 35 - One year down in the new house.. still so much to do.. ![]() Re: plz suggest a door/covering 6Nov 10, 2009 10:15 am What about just putting in a door frame and a normal right handed door. Otherwise there may be options for adding a door to the ensuite but I think that will lose the effect of your ensuite. The plan certainly helps. I'm not a huge fan of those folding doors especially in a modern looking home. Have you taken your floor plan somewhere like a door specialist to look at all your options? Re: plz suggest a door/covering 7Nov 10, 2009 10:30 am I would look at getting some Carpartner/builders to come in an quote you for a wall with door option - you may be surprised it wont be that expensive and you could paint it yourself to save some money. That wall doesn't appear to be a load bearing wall and so a cavity door should be easily placed. Re: plz suggest a door/covering 11Nov 11, 2009 4:01 pm I was thinking of a cavity door too. My preference but wasn't sure how much work would be involved. I am in Newcastle NSW so I had them made through Nova which is a local shower screen and wardrobe manufacturer, made on site.
