Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Sep 27, 2009 10:39 pm Hi I'm building a double story 4 bedroom house and am nearing completion. I have just discovered this week that the windows in all the minor bedrooms have been mixed up. The bedroom at the front elevation (bedroom 2) is supposed to have an awning window and a fixed window at the side, the builder has placed 2 sliding windows instead . In bedroom 3 and 4 where the sliding windows should be, bedroom 3 has the fixed window and bedroom 4 has the awning window. (hope this makes sence). All the windows are the same size. The window placement and style is what the builder has specified. I have not made any changes to their standard plans in regard to the windows and this is what I signed off on. The awning window at the front elevation is to compliment the front facade. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice, its probably to late to get them fixed but this is really annoying me, I suppose i'm upset at the stuff up to their standard plans...I would have though getting the window placement right would have been easy:-( Should I do anything about it or just leave it as is?? Thanks any advice would be appreciated. Re: Advise regarding mixed up window placement?? 2Sep 27, 2009 10:58 pm Definetly ask them to change it, if they cant ask for compensation. Re: Advise regarding mixed up window placement?? 3Sep 28, 2009 12:17 am Awning windows are about 50% dearer than sliding windows. Where the awning complements the façade, insist that this is changed to an awning. Each room must have ventilation so make sure that you have an opening window in each. Changing them is not a huge cost for your builder. The rest, I would not worry.
