Very cold mornings in Melbourne these last few days - the heating is flat out and I can still feel the cold - in fact I can see the freezing fog just outside my window... maybe time to light my log fire.

Some builders won't let you change windows, but some will and just asking is enough.
When you buy a new home, about 5%-8% of its value is in windows - this is your money, you are spending it not your builder. So if you are spending $200,000 on a home you are spending $10,000 to $16,000 on windows. And if you did spend that amount on anything wouldn't you want to choose? You builder will have a deal which will be for him the best value. But what do you want?
Recently a policeman was offered uPVC windows by his builder (who had made a mistake on the windows) at same cost as cheap aluminium windows. EcoClassic rang him to arrange everything. "I don't care whose windows they use...."
I bet he cares whose car he buys.
Think, ask, challenge - it's not just a colour choice.
Many homes today are having some windows double glazed to achieve their energy rating. Ask your builder what it would cost to double glaze everything, then shop around - you may do better.
