Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Removing flyscreens - whats the secret? 21Jul 28, 2011 12:18 pm Thank you to Peter for the great Power Point re replacing fly screen, but I am having trouble getting them out. They are Stegbar and have the pull up tabs on the outside, so not sure which way they are supposed to come out. I can push the frame to one side but cannot get the top of the frame out on the other side. I am doing this from outside, though most instructions say to do it from the inside of the window, but due to the tabs being on the outside of the screen I have reversed the process. Any advice please! Re: Removing flyscreens - whats the secret? 22Jul 28, 2011 3:22 pm I'm pretty sure all sliding window screen that are in the frame (not like old housing commission stuff that just clipped on to the outside of house) will be removed and fitted from the inside. I guess you could try using Peter's instructions from the last page and go back wards. Just do the opposite of what the arrows say. So that would be: Lift the screen, pull the corner closest to the fixed panel down, Now pull right bottom corner away from centre and out of the frame channel. This will mean both bottom corners come out of the frame at this point. Now pull the top outer corner down and away from the centre of the window. The screen should have come out now. The other option would be to call Stegbar (if they are made by Stegbar) and ask them to email you instructions on getting them out. Re: Removing flyscreens - whats the secret? 23Jul 29, 2011 11:40 pm Thankyou for your response. In the end I rang Stegbar who put me onto a person who came out and showed me how to do it and I can now confidently take the screens out and put them back again. It is great to know how easy it really is. You were right - it is the reverse of the power point, but there were a few other little 'tricks' like ensuring that the plastic fittings are not at the bottom of the frame as that prevents you pushing the frame to the side enough to get the opposite corner out, etc.. Good to be able to clean the windows at last! Re: Removing flyscreens - whats the secret? 24Mar 11, 2013 7:31 am Peter, I know it has been a while, would you please please repost the slideshow again? (the link is dead now). http://www.fileden.com/files/2010/4/25/ ... lation.pps many many thanks in advance! Re: Removing flyscreens - whats the secret? 25Jul 13, 2014 10:40 am I have A&L windows and flyscreens. I need to know how to remove and replace a pane of glass and flyscreens from a bedroom window 4 windows 2 at the top and two at the bottom sliding. I have looked and cannot see how to take beading from the window to take the glass out??? Flyscreens I cannot get back into the cavity. Help Please. Re: Removing flyscreens - whats the secret? 26Jul 15, 2014 11:33 am The flyscreens in my last home were stuck with just a half-nailed screw on the left side, with the window frame on the right and top. It would hang on the bottom but it never slipped or fell. The frame fit so well. There were no plastic flaps either. You take them off or put them back just like the back cover of your mobile phone. Lift it from the right, then pull it out (basically using the point touching the screw as a pivot. BTW using magnets may be the answer to all flyscreen removal problems. The north remembers, and the mummer's farce is almost done. My son is home. Re: Removing flyscreens - whats the secret? 27Jul 15, 2014 4:09 pm karenquick62 I have A&L windows and flyscreens. Hi I am sure A&L would help you... meanwhile, I assume you have sliding windows, they are a pain to remove flyscreens. You can lift the sash and pull it out of the track, you will need to lift and twist the flyscreen to remove it. If this fails, I would call A&L... If you can get white, does it look better or plain weird? Re: Removing flyscreens - whats the secret? 29Aug 15, 2014 5:11 pm It's black... white would stand out, black is not so noticeable. Black blends and you get better vision through. Cheers Marisa http://www.artilux.com.au Screens for Bi-fold, French and Stacker Doors. 30 years experience. 7 year warranty.
