Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Finishing off External Alum Sliding Door flashing 2Sep 07, 2009 10:47 am Chief Hi We have an old house (100 yr) that has had a alum sliding door replaced in a single brick wall / concrete floor. The black flashing has been left at bottom sticking out to the weather. I would like to know what we should do about it. I had been told to cut it off but that seems to defeat the purpose of having it. I thought maybe pop rivet a piece of Alum flashing to the bottom of the frame to cover it. The door is set on the edge of the concrete which drops down to a single step ajoined to the house. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Sliding doors have drain holes at the bottom, in front of the sill rubber. You can put some aluminium in front but be careful you don't cover these up or the rain will come into your home.
