Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Aug 17, 2009 9:59 am okay so we have decided on bi-folds, the next problem is frame and please excuse my lack of terminology. We have cut a hole in the wall, through the plasterboard, leaving the edges a bit uneven, jaggy ect. We have thought of two options 1. build a frame with 4x2 and add skirting to hide imprefections along wall and top of frame 2.use external angle beads and plaster the walls and ceiling where track will be http://www.how2plaster.com/angles.html What method is best or should we be using and if anyone has links or can explain on the best way to do it that would be great. We are very late 20's with 2 kids, wanting to invest in real estate and get of the working treadmill. Re: Frame for bi-fold... help needed for diy 2Aug 17, 2009 12:05 pm If they are bi-fold doors you will need a jamb for the door to close into. 90x35 (4"x 1 1/2") will be more than adequate for the frame. The jambs are then fixed plumb to the frame and then architrave covering the gap between jamb and frame. If this is a glazed bifold door in an external wall, the opening is the least of your problems. The bifold needs to be well supported at the sides (jambs), at the top (head) and at the bottom (sill). This is critical. Finishing off the opening is then just a matter of fitting architrave all round. I guess it's an internal door?
