Re: those with Bi fold doors ..... 3Aug 14, 2009 9:20 pm I remember visiting displays last summer and there would be so many flies inside of them it was really offputting - so we got sliders instead as we are only two streets from the water ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: those with Bi fold doors ..... 4Aug 14, 2009 10:17 pm ICK so we got sliders instead I had to re read that as I skim read the first time and thought you got SPIDERS instead that will keep the flys to a minimum. Re: those with Bi fold doors ..... 5Aug 14, 2009 10:30 pm I'm planning on ordering something like this ’’Quondo Omni Flunkus Mortati ’’ If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. My husband wanted Bi-fold doors just like the ones in display homes. But I prefer practicality over show off. So we ended up ordering Bi-part doors instead of Bi-fold. And we got flyscreens on them too. It looks almost like Bi-fold door and well costs the same too But its much more practical than Bi-fold door. I am glad that I have got it. But if you still prefer Bi-Fold doors, then you can look into ziptrak blinds. These are really good too. You can get it installed in your alfresco. It comes in clear color, tinted, also has mesh. This way you can open your Bi-fold doors to give a spacious look to your house and close your alfresco with this clear screen and won't have to worry about bugs. So it will serve both your purpose quite well. Bi-fold doors without Bugs ... I wish I had known it earlier.... http://www.ziptrak.com.au/gallery/ The image does not show flyscreens as they will be installed on our settlement day. Good Luck. A good product at a sensible price... but be aware these screens can be easily damaged by wind, pets and small children. We have evap cooling indoors and a ceiling fan in the al fresco.... no idea whether either or both of those help a little or a lot, but: no flies, no problem. Ed Hi Ed I note that Canterbury Windows and Doors now sell something similar as well but built into the frame of the bifold itself http://www.canterburywindows.com.au/Win ... Doors.aspx It is a pity that our builder does not use Canterbury or we'd have gone with this option. Re: those with Bi fold doors ..... 13Aug 15, 2009 8:02 pm andrei hahaha..spiders was funny one. Re: those with Bi fold doors ..... 14Aug 15, 2009 9:57 pm We asked our builder about these roller type fly screens and he said that they refuse to install them because they fall appart too easily and their builders warranty gets hit for them. I have to take everything this guy says with a grain of salt, it could either mean that they are bad or that my builder is too lazy to worry about them, or that they are useless at installing them. They look awesome but through M were very expensive-$3200, through the company though they are only $1500 but you can't retro fit them afterwards so we had to cop the ridiculous amount! Re: those with Bi fold doors ..... 16Aug 16, 2009 9:05 pm A friend of mine has bi folds from her living area to the alfresco and has celing fans which stop the flies. We are building and putting in bi folds with ceiling fans all around. I am told however the fans keep away the flies but not the wasps for some reason. Building Sandhurst 36 Porter Davis Currently Fixing Re: those with Bi fold doors ..... 17Aug 16, 2009 10:53 pm We will have 7m bifold doors in our new house and I spent many hours researching and trying to work out what to do about screening...in the end, decided to go with a Centor Architectural bi-fold door system and accompanying retractable screen system. Not cheap, but from what I can tell...basically the best system available and built to last! I figure if you're going to go to the effort of having bifolds and want to make the most of them, no point skimping on the screening! And unfortunately in Canberra summers, flies are a problem! haha Anyway, just my thoughts..but would definitely recommend Centor over any of the other options Ive seen. Worthwhile checking out their website: www.centor.com.au - we're going with the E3 bifold system and the S1 screen. Re: those with Bi fold doors ..... 20Aug 17, 2009 11:02 pm jaelee Adam, thanks for your post and I checked out the website. As we are interested in a 6 metre span, could you please give us an indication of cost for your 7m span. Many thanks. Hi Jaelee No problem about the post, but would you believe I actually don't know the specific cost! We got all our windows and doors (cedar framed) through the one joinery company here in Canberra (Queanbeyan actually!) and so I only ever paid attention to the overall cost! I think there's something on the website though where you can request an indicative cost or something? If you get really stuck, let me know and I can try and find out the individual cost through our window supplier!
