We just bought a recently rennovated house (in Wollongong/Mt Ousley) with new windows that is two blocks away from a highway. At night we often hear the compression brakes of coal trucks in the 3 bedrooms. (although there is a noise camera...)
I don't want to rip out the new windows and replace them with double glazed ones, but the quote I got from Magnetite is expensive:
4.5mm Large sliding glass door $2,060 (includes $250 sliding track)
4.5 mm Standard bedroom windows $869 each
These prices included GST and labour.
I've heard of Magnetite for insulation - but what about for noise? Advice anyone? (Our house has standard insulation in roof and floors).
