Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: 4Jul 18, 2010 8:18 am builda On the bottom of the sash there is a screw which attaches the bottom of the spring to the sash via a lug on the actual bottom of the spring. The spring is concelaed inside the plastic tube that runs down the frame on either side of the sash. You need to be careful undoing the screw as you will need to hold the little lug flat into its recess otherwise the spring will go berserk and can do some damage to fingers or the woodwork. The manufacturers of the spiral balances make a special hook that you can fit into the screw hole so that you grab the lug and then turn it to tighten the spring - don't forget to hang on! Lay the lug back over into the recess on the bottom of the sash and put the screw back in. Not too difficult and should only take a few minutes for each spring. Spot-on... but if you are not up for that (your balancers may need replacing), then Google window spiral balance replacement... Here's one, but not too close I think... but call anyway they may do your area, or know someone who does... http://mrsashcord.com.au/?gclid=CISPsbH ... bwodPRZAhg Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy.
