You would just "join" the new wall to the old one, install the cavity unit, put on the plasterboard, fix up the skirting and cornice and paint it. What would look awesome in that room would be building another wall next to the existing one and installing a large door that slides out to cover the entire existing opening. Of course that would mean installing a header track in the ceiling and a track in the floor, but it would look fantastic. I thought a sliding cavity would be the easiest way... I’m in a similar position except I’m after sliding 3 stacking doors.
