Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 15, 2009 4:41 pm I am new to this forum so I hope I get this right! I saw an advert about three months ago in one of the weekend magazines of The Age or The Herald Sun for a company producing UPVC windows with traditional-looking frames. Unfortunately I lost the advert and haven't been able to find any corresponding info online. I'm not sure of the technical terminology but the frame around the windows looked more like a wooden frame than most UPVC windows - I don't mean that the surface had a wood grain but that the actual frames looked like they had been given the same amount of detail a traditional-looking window frame would have. Has anyone heard of a company producing windows resembling this description, I'd appreciate your help if you have - thanks. Re: Traditional look UPVC windows 2Aug 12, 2009 3:05 pm Hi Daniels, I think I know which ones you mean. There is a display at the Mornington Home Innovations centre (Bungower RdMornington) and I think the exhibitor is called American Homes. They have an ornate timber looking double hung window and I beleive it to be uPVC. Just my 2 cents worth though, double hung uPVC windows perform worst in terms of air infiltration data. Any other type does quite well including Tilt turn, casement and awning. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11569 |
