Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 12, 2009 4:33 pm Hi, We are thinking of putting feature windows in our rumpus room. To satisfy ourselves as to how they look I drew them up in Google Sketchup to see what they look like, this is a sort of airial view looking into the room: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ What do people of think of this? Do they look too pockey and too small? They shouldn't limit the ability of us to put furniture around. Opinions welcome. What were you thinking of putting on that wall? TV?? A thankful person is a happy person. Our main dream at the moment is to have a room with a door where we can leave the boys and their toys. This way when guests come over we can close the door and we are tidy people.... Long term plan is to have this as the boys play room, her indoors craft room and an eventual study room for the boys. This sort of means that there should be no tall furniture at least. It might be slightly annoying that have sun in your eye on Saturday afternoon. Trying this building gig one more time. Re: Rumpus Room Windows 5Jul 12, 2009 5:25 pm I'm not sure about those 2 small windows - what is the purpose of them? You will have good lighting and cross ventilation thru the large window either side of the room, the extra small windows seems unnneccesary to me But I guess if you like the look of them - why not? Re: Rumpus Room Windows 6Jul 12, 2009 5:31 pm I'd switch the placement of the windows. Seems odd to have a massive window to the east and one to the west and have little windows to the north. I'd put the big window to the north and work from there. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I suppose as a bit of background, we have been in a real dilemna as to how to look out to our backyard (Block faces East West). To the East Window is our Alfresco which is under our roof line therefore we don't have to worry about morning sun through there. To the West will be our garden which we would like to be able to look out on. I am well aware of the afternoon sun shining in issue but we would love to be able to look out at the kids playing in the back yard. To compensate for the sun I am planning on building a pergola with a deciduous vine (such as a grape vine) that will let winter sun in, however block the imposing summer sun. The only reason for wanting those windows is to allow a bit of the North Light to come in, this may not be necessary at all.
