Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 09, 2009 9:02 pm Anyone have any tips on the best way to clean inside the tracks on sliding doors? We still have a fair amount of sand in the outside tracks (having only just got grass in the back) and I'm struggling to clean them well enough. the vaccum isn't sucking enough out. Just wondered if there was a trick I was missing? Re: Cleaning sliding doors. 2Jul 09, 2009 9:56 pm I use a handbrush Building with Homebuyers Centre El Questro! Re: Cleaning sliding doors. 4Jul 10, 2009 5:00 pm I hate sliding door / window tracks, hate them, I know your pain, that's why the house we've just built only has one sliding window and no sliding doors!!! The cleaner that did the final clean here I noticed had a vacuum (crevice) nozzle that actually fits between tracks!!! I most definitely will buy one if I ever come across it, most vacuums I've seen come with nozzles that are just that bit too thick to fit right in!!! Otherwise the best way I can think of is if you can find a suitable brush to use to agitate/ loosen the dirt at the same time as vacuuming it up. Otherwise I've tried water and a rag that can be pushed in, but if it's really dirty you mainly end up pushing all the crap to a corner. I've never managed to clean tracks well enough for my liking! Re: Cleaning sliding doors. 5Jul 10, 2009 5:05 pm Yeah I think that's the problem, i can't quite get it done as well as I'd like. I had a another go this morning using a rather nifty hand vac I got on ebay, like you said brushing at the same time as vaccing, works fairly well. I have three sliding doors. Oh well i'll keep at it. Re: Cleaning sliding doors. 6Jul 11, 2009 10:00 pm Dragonfly Yeah I think that's the problem, i can't quite get it done as well as I'd like. Edit: I should mention... shield your eyes! Edit: I should mention... shield your eyes! Hey that sounds like fun, I didn't know you could get such a thing! I had been thinking, wouldn't it be handy to borrow Dad's compressor he used to have on the farm, but he sold it when they downsized.. I'll have to look into that. thanks! I still use them to clean my cars in the cracks and vents and around the house to do the windows and door sills. I hold the vacuum near it and brush away Re: Cleaning sliding doors. 10Jul 12, 2009 8:38 am Fu Manchu I used to detail cars as a grommet and I used a thick paint brush with electrical tape wrapped around the top of the bristles to stiffen the brush up. That always frustrates me when cleaning my car.
