Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 05, 2009 4:57 pm Hi everyone, I tried to do a search but came up with nothing so hope this hasn't been covered and if so please point me in the right direction. In our laundry we have a sliding glass door (probably like most people). So what are my options other than verticals? We live on a farm so privacy is not an issue and you do not need to go into the laundry to get to the toilet so the laundry is just that - a laundry. I've thought of a few things but I don't want to risk anything going mouldy from any moisture. I even thought maybe I'd look into getting those things I saw on Better Homes and Gardens the other week which you stick on the window to make it look frosted and get some with pretty cut outs. What do you think - or should I just leave the door bare? Re: Laundry Door - what are my options for covering it? 2Jul 05, 2009 5:13 pm Any particular reason for wanting to cover it? I wouldnt mind looking out to something whilst doing the laundry Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! I was just thinking about the laundry being cold... I suppose after all I'll probably be the only person who'll use the laundry . So maybe just leave it then? Re: Laundry Door - what are my options for covering it? 4Jul 05, 2009 5:53 pm Oh no, dont take what I say Wait and see what others say So, one of the main reasons for covering is because of heat loss As you've said, Id be cautious of any type of fabric due to mould if its not well ventilated... wonder what suggestions others will have Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Something like this http://www.iseekblinds.com.au/blinds/holland.asp Re: Laundry Door - what are my options for covering it? 6Jul 05, 2009 6:31 pm I'm not covering mine, I just plan to keep the laundry door to the inside of the house closed most of the time anyway 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Re: Laundry Door - what are my options for covering it? 8Jul 05, 2009 9:57 pm We will have a door with a half window and it will have a blockout roller blind on it. Only because it faces east and we want to block out the hot morning sun in summer so the room doesn't get too hot. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. No we dont - we have a standard hinged door, half glass at top and a small window next to it as well - so it can be opened for ventilation. There is a pet flap in door as well so dog can get in and out. I prefer these doors to sliding glass doors for laundries Re: Laundry Door - what are my options for covering it? 10Jul 16, 2009 9:35 pm A synthetic like shower curtain would assist to keep it warmer in winter, and cooler in summer and you could pull them back when desired. Louvres will be a pain and collect lots of fluff - not a good choice. But if you are on acreage i wouldn't bother. Re: Laundry Door - what are my options for covering it? 12Jul 17, 2009 10:26 am We have a vertical on ours at the moment. The people that did our blinds threw it in for free as we actually picked a colour that they were trying to get rid of We're building on acerage too and I hadn't really thought about what to do this time. I think I'll just leave it bare. The sliding door in the laundry will be the in/out for the dogs, so anything that hung there would get wrecked in no time. I'll have to see how much sun / how hot it gets and might just get the windows tinted maybe I do like the "new" style laundry doors as descibed by Helyn with the window/blind in them, but with two large dogs, the pet flap would take up most of the door Re: Laundry Door - what are my options for covering it? 13Jul 17, 2009 10:32 am Quote: I do like the "new" style laundry doors as descibed by Helyn with the window/blind in them, but with two large dogs, the pet flap would take up most of the door Recyled old becoming the 'new' again But I see your point, Maya Papaya - wouldnt work with very large dogs - the smallest size flap works for our little chihuahua x terrior who is not much bigger than a cat Move your linen into laundry and access laundry from your present linen space 1 8017 got it. thanks.
