Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 01, 2009 11:11 pm Heya, http://www.doorsaplenty.com.au/doors/hu ... /xs11.html I was all set to get mocha venetians for the entry, but just realised that the Hume Savoy already comes "stained"......so now have to try and find a wooden venetian to match the door. Problem is l have no idea what colour the Hume door is (l know it certainly ain't mocha!! )....so does anyone know? Thanks for your help! Re: Hume Savoy XS11 Entry Door 2Jul 02, 2009 10:05 am Thorney - we are having two of these. As far as I am aware they are raw timber and then stained to your colour preference. At least that is what is happening with ours. We have chosen Cabots Western Red Cedar stain. Only up to lockup this week but no doors on so can't help you with any photos sorry. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Hume Savoy XS11 Entry Door 3Jul 02, 2009 12:25 pm kyton Thorney - we are having two of these. Heya Kyton, Yup, we having two of these as well Ahhh ok that's what l originally thought.....though if it's raw timber then why does it say "laminated veneered..."?? Do you know what kind of raw timber it is?...apparently different coloured stains will look different depending on the type of timber. Your stain sounds lovely......l had a brief look at the Solver stains....can't say l'm impressed with any of them ....wonder if l can just give the painter a tin of the stain l eventually pick? Re: Hume Savoy Entry Doors 4Jul 13, 2009 9:34 pm Well I finally got around to finding the answer to my question...been meaning to post it for the possible benefit of others in the future The doors (mine is the XS11) come as laminated timber veneer in Pacific Maple. I've learn't that staining different timbers will produce different colour depths but also that staining raw timber and staining laminated timber also result in a different effect! Re: Hume Savoy XS11 Entry Door 5Aug 13, 2009 6:57 pm Thorney, our doors were delivered yesterday afternoon and installed today. They are some sort of raw timber and match the highlight perfectly. Now fingers crossed the stain matches the window frames / garage doors. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Hume Savoy XS11 Entry Door 7Aug 14, 2009 7:59 am Heya Thorney. What a goose I am!! The windows are actually Decowood - so anodised aluminium with woodgrain effect. Our garage doors are the same (when they finally get delivered and installed ). Couldn't be bothered with the upkeep on real timber so these will be perfect. Some things are worth waiting for. Oh wow really?...they look like real timber to me! Your garage doors will look absolutely great l'm sure, especially with the tone of bricks you have. Can't wait to see the pics.......eventually Once our doors are stained we should post the pics of them in here yeah? Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6346 I am looking to design an entry door to a lower ground basement that has 2200mm between the external entry height to FFL of the ground floor.
