I have wanted a louvered door for my ensuite door for ages, but sort of lost interest after all the other slight renovations we were doing. This weekend though, I stayed in a hotel room which had white louvered sliding doors on the cupboard and the bathroom...and I've fallen in love.
What I want to know is, I can't really see any issues with simply removing the existing normal bathroom door and replacing it with a louvered door. I don't want a sliding one on the ensuite, as there isn't really much room for it to slide TO, but can you ever have louvered doors that don't slide? That just open like a normal door? Can they just put on the door and use the existing hinges and door opening/closing mechanism that's already present?
My next question is that I want to replace the boring old panel slider doors (2 doors) with louvered sliding doors in the hallway cupboard. The doors would be exactly like the ones in the hotel room, even the same size as far as I could tell. So I know this can be done, but does anyone know how much it'd be? Do louvered sliding doors have to be wider than non-louvered ones? Would they have to adjust the tracks, etc?
Thank you!
