Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: PVC or Aluminium window 2May 31, 2009 7:33 am There are heaps of posts all over the forum about this... but the basic are...
PVC... best energy efficiency, maybe 20%-300% dearer depending who you buy from. The PVC hardware is brilliant. Especially suits coastal areas. In 5 years Australia will move to mainly PVC just like Europe & USA. We sell both (& thermal break)... so this is a pretty unbiased view. When I asked that Polish outfit I've bought my windows from about aluminium, they said it's 40% more expensive than PVC, exactly the opposite from here. Wonder why.... The timber ones were the most expensive, 20% more than aluminium. I can supply aluminium roughly 30% less. So if the price in Poland is 40% more that's twice the price of here. But having said that, it depends on the type of aluminium window. Most overseas countries use a heavier window. Or maybe you were quoted thermally broken aluminium. Chris Then the price would be comparable with EcoClassic thermally broken - or about 1/3 of the rest out there. Compare apples with apples and the ali window is more expensive compared to PVCu. Change is what we need! Can we? YES WE CAN!!!!! 4 14294 For your reference Performance Labels: Window assemblies in housing, except timber windows, must be labelled so the label can be seen when it is in situ.
