Re: Polar Eco Windows 2May 17, 2009 5:17 pm loretta hi all has anyone had any experience with these double glazed modular windows which you can get through Bunnings and get an immediate on line quote for? http://www.polarwindows.com.au/aboutus.asp it seems good at first glance but they only have three colours which I am not thrilled about. any thoughts?? They only have about 3 sizes that you buy and then you purchse the hardware to join them together to make bigger sizes. You also buy the reveal adaptors and the subsill separately - all up they are about twice the price of any reasonable window - and they perform very badly in WERS. Then there's the flyscreen .... hmmm... They came to us first over a year ago, then we heard no more, I wonder how they came up with the name EcoView? The whole system is patented - they may as well have patented a chocolate teapot... Sure you are limited to 3 colours but that is the limitation of the system. Wont suit everyone. Over 1000 variations are possible. All windows are double glazed and are Grade A toughened safety glass standard. They are N3 and can be used in commercial applications. WERS gives us a 5 star rating so not sure about what Ed is going on about. Build your window on line and get an instant quote. AWA membership and Bunnings standing behind you and i feel you cant go wrong. They have 6 year Warranty but not on these parts. Has anyone bought them and like them? Re: Polar Eco Windows 11Nov 20, 2015 4:50 pm So have been looking into these windows and doors, Bunnings has completely inadequate pictures and Polars site mainly shows distance shots of them in a building eg. useless so I rang Polar to ask if they did a window winder but they only offer the twist handle then push method, ok I said what about the fly screen, yes he said they have one, great I said where are the pictures of it then, oh we dont have any he said.....wahhhh? He then explained that they are on a hinge that you swing open to then open/close the window. They dont have any on display in Adelaide so I went to the biggest Bunnings in Sydney to look and all they had was 1 door bolted 4 meters up on a rack I couldnt reach and 1 tiny window with no fly screen and and no holes for attachment any where, also the handle sits above the profile of the opening so I see no way a screen could swing open. Ohh and hears the kicker, there was about a 1cm gap between the seal and the window when shut. Ive no idea how they are still in business, they want people to spend tens of thousands on their stuff for their home and you cant see the products anywhere in person or online? Sure the price is right but not if there are un resolved problems with them, also they dont have a thermal break which greatly reduces the effectiveness of double glaze..... sure I wasnt expecting it for the price but I do expect to be given the chance to judge for my self if the value/design combination is good enough. And who knows, maybe they are good.... and maybe they are loosing lots of sales because of the doubt they create for potential customers because they dont really know what they are doing in the marketing department to.
