Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 May 14, 2009 6:16 pm Right...my favorite topic...decor...NOT! Got a quote from Spotlight Custom Made Curtains...basically they sized everything up and gave us a quote for 13 windows including installation and I'm not unhappy about the total. We'll do a cost comparison with a couple of internet companies but really I couldn't be stuffed fart-*rsing around installing curtains. I'd rather transfer the risk of stuffing up that job on someone else and pay the difference. Tried a couple of other places like Home Outlet and what not...but we'd have to buy romans from here, awning from there...more stuffin' around....and I was not enamored by their customer service and general lack of enthusiasm. I've done a search on here and can't find anybody with horror stories about Soptlight installations, found some recommendations on Spotlight ready hangs and other windowcoverolgical topics (can you tell this topic excites me... ) but nothing too bad. So good or bad if you've had experience with Spotlight Custom Made Curtain service please tell...much appreciated. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 2May 14, 2009 6:45 pm Not a personal recommendation but my friend had rollerblinds installed by spotlight and she cant speak highly enough of them. This was through spotlight in osborne park, and she said that the server was an older woman - Aleeda, I think was her name), and the installer was a guy with over 20 years doing it. The reason I know all this is I am in the market for window treatments so am basically asking all my friends who have had window treatments done recently what their experiences have been like. Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 3May 14, 2009 6:49 pm Spotlight looks like they get a fair bit of work where I am. I have never heard a good or bad thing about them. I guess not hearing a bad thing is good? Seems to me either nobody used them...or shock horror they actually did what they were supposed to do... Like everything in life...you're remembered for the things you stuff up then where you do your job well. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 5May 15, 2009 11:48 am Hi again - sorry I read your avatar as "western australia" not "western melbourne" hence the level of detail about the shop assistant's name here in Perth. Probably a bit useless given the distance from the osborne park spotlight store! Price was a little bit much, but we still went with them. Service I think was ok - my husband actually organised the whole thing, including chosing style & colour - I just paid the bill! haha Can't say tham I was blown away with amazing value, but they have made them to size, exactly how we ordered them and installed them. Certinaly nothing 'bad' about the experience We will most likely get them back to do the rest of the house when we get to that point in the renos (if we have any money left!). Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 10May 17, 2009 11:25 am For what it's worth... I contacted several companies several years ago to do timber ventians and roller blinds for an entire 4 bedroom home. Surprisingly their price wasn't very competitive so we went with someone else (Peter Meyer in Sydney). That's the extent of my experience with Spotlight custom made window furnishings. We do, however, intend to get a quote from them again when it's time to do the new house which is so far away from being built at this point I'm going out of my mind! But don't get me started on that!!!! Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 12May 17, 2009 2:23 pm Well I eyeballed the product today at the local Spotlight and I reckon it's as good if not better than the "custom" blinds we had done for our other house...and the price was competitive compared to a couple of others...not that I'd go with those companies (eeek very bad feedback on customer service)...I'll keep doin' my research. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 13May 18, 2009 2:17 pm Hi Michelle, I was *extremely* happy with Peter Meyer. I saw their ads in Vogue Magazine and really asked for a quote as a bit of a lark but surprisingly they were very competitive. The quality of the product was excellent as was their installation service. In addition, we did not have a single problem with either the timber blinds or rollers. I would happily use them again Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 15Jun 16, 2009 9:00 am Hi just though to put my 2 cents worth. We are also looking for cutains and blinds and got around talking to a few poeple. Got a quote from a shop in Castle Hill (not taking any names here) it was clsoe to $10K Went around to Spotlight and have asked for a quote. Haven't got it as yet,but inidication from them was clsoe to $5k One of my friends got her's done from Spotlight and she was very pleased with the price and service. Let us know if you find something else or any new suppliers. Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 16Aug 18, 2009 12:20 pm Spotlight recently had free curtain making available when you purchased their fabric over $16.99 per metre. Seemed like a great deal to me! I got 4 sheer curtains made out of a great jungle print fabric. All I can say, is lucky it was free curtain making and that the top of the curtains will be hidden under a pelmet. The seams are ridiculously crooked and the thread is dirty - very noticeable on white fabric! Re: Spotlight Custom Made Curtains - Good or Bad Service? 17Aug 20, 2009 9:40 am I had spotlight come out to do a quote. Lovely lady, good conversation. Heard nothing for two weeks, so rang up. Got the old "sorry, we're really be busy, be back to you soon" line. Waited another week. This time it was the X person is on holidays routine. Tried one more time a week after that and they seemed irritated I was even asking. So that was that. It's a wonder to me how some business make any money at all. Do the hard jobs first. The easy jobs will take care of themselves. - Dale Carnegie Does anyone have a suggestion for a good hydronic in slab heating speacialist who may be able to help me with an existing system and wether or not it may need a seperator… 0 4888 have you used any of the motorised curtain systems available from Ebay?
