Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 May 12, 2009 8:54 pm I have seen Luxaflex samples and compared them to the samples from Beautiful Blinds. They are definitely not the same. The translucent ones from BB can be easily torn along the width of the material and have a feel of being made from paper. Does anyone have honeycomb blinds from Beautiful Blinds? What has been your experience with regards to the quality of the fabric and the hardware? Thanks, GoskaN (or Margaret) Re: Beautiful Blinds and Luxaflex Honeycomb Shades 2Jun 28, 2009 3:22 am Hi, I have since found out much more about quality of blinds. There is nothing wrong with the quality of blinds from Beautiful Blinds. They all come from one international manufacturer Hunter Douglas represented by different brand names like Luxaflex, Turnils or AWF. The thinner material comes from a Swedish company Turnils (another Hunter Douglas company), it weighs less but the horizontal tearing test just does not make any sense to do. And the big advantage of Beautiful Blinds is that you can get an instant quotation with very competitive pricing. On top of it Merimy (the owner) is very helpful. Cheers, GoskaN Re: Beautiful Blinds and Luxaflex Honeycomb Shades 3Jul 01, 2009 9:58 pm Hi Can't say Ive seen Beatiful Blinds, but I got a quote from luxaflex honeycomb / cellular shades with inner foil and also a similar one from Kresta. Luxaflex were dearer, and kresta was 1/2 price. I never got to see the quality of luxaflex, but the quality of kresta seems fine. Definitely not thin, but having the inner foil for the insulation properties probably strengthens it. I asked Kresta why it was cheaper than luxaflex, and they said that when the patent ran out on cellular blinds, kresta was able to then produce it and charge a lower price. But word of warning, our experience with Kresta was very very disappointing. It took nearly 10 months to get the cellular blinds right ( from time of ordering to proper completed installation). I guess you get what you pay. Fox Re: Beautiful Blinds and Luxaflex Honeycomb Shades 4Jul 01, 2009 10:19 pm I think the patent story on Kresta is a marketing strategy (not necessarily true . I also got a quote from them and was told that everything is produced in Perth including the fabric (polyester). Not true - all fabrics are made in China. In Australia the blinds are made to size using production machinery and hardware bought overseas (USA, Sweden) and fabrics (sometimes also hardware) made in China for global companies like Hunter Douglas. I did not select Kresta because they only make large single cell honeycombs and I wanted double cells with their improved insulation properties. Their quote was second cheapest, Luxaflex was the most expensive (double of the lowest). GoskaN of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
