Windows have always had the inside opening latch, so when you shut them they can only be opened from the inside. Window locks then mean you still need a key to open them from the inside. IMO the main advantage of window locks is where you can leave them open a little for airflow, but lock them so someone cant open it and get through. We reported it to the SS and Bradnams came out and replaced all the latches with keyed ones, it's quite straight forward and was probably just an over-sight. I know that some housing departments throughout australia actually have policies to NOT have them due to the emergency fire escape point of view. Are you getting aluminium windows or timber windows? I think the locks come with the windows with it is an aluminium window but if it is a timber window, the lock comes separate. The reason why i am saying this is because wehave timber windows at the front of our house and the locks that were installed seem to have been screwed on the timber window..
