Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Apr 22, 2009 9:37 pm Hoping someone out there can advise, We are having an open corner between the alfresco and the living and dining area. To achieve this look we are using stacker doors which open away from each other. The engineering for this has been sorted and the house in in the initial stages of construction. Our builder is using dowell doors but has said that he has not used stacker doors in this situation where they will lock together at a 90 degree angle. Has anyone used dowell stackers in this situation? How did they lock together? What brand of door did you use? All comments appreciated! Re: Stacker doors/open corner 2Apr 22, 2009 9:41 pm I am pretty sure that P D have done this on a few display homes... You could check their website for a reference.... i do not know what brand of door were used though... I know they looked great..... We do one as an internal corner. Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Being in the door business, do you know anything about Dowell and whether or not they are have the coupling method you use. If not, I gather at least one of the doors would have to be made to lock in with the other door? Re: Stacker doors/open corner 5Apr 22, 2009 10:07 pm frugal Thanks for that Ecoclassic. If not, I gather at least one of the doors would have to be made to lock in with the other door? It really must be designed to operate like that - I think Trend do it too... We opted against it as we didn't like the look of it when it was closed. Re: Stacker doors/open corner 8Jun 10, 2009 8:12 pm We in Victoria and also getting corner stacker doors made by A&L. I have tested these in the display and they very tough and lock into each other. Only problem you have now is flies... good luck [b]Contract signed 3rd May --> Handover mid FEB Re: Stacker doors/open corner 9Jun 12, 2009 12:53 pm We're planning on doing this too. I havent seen it in person in a display home, I should really go and have a look. I think Simonds also do this? Ed, is it about right to estimate $1000 per meter for bifold/stacker doors? Is it more for doors which need to coupe together? Thank you Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Is it more for doors which need to coupe together? Thank you Stacker doors are a little dearer than standard sliding doors - that's all they are, just with an extra track. (that's our price anyway!!!) - and ours takes security and fly screens. Bifold doors, yes the industry retail rate is $1000/ metre. Ours is about the same maybe less, but double glazed. There should be a small difference for the corner adaptation. Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Re: Stacker doors/open corner 12Jun 12, 2009 1:12 pm Bam Ok, now a very stupid question - is there a difference between stacker and bifold doors? A stacker door is a sliding door with more than 2 tracks so 2 or more panels slide side by side - like the old shower screens. A bifold door is where the panels are hinged to each other and concertina like a fan.
