Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Apr 13, 2009 4:04 pm hi guys, i really need some help here we have a timber glass door with and frosted/clear etching insert ( i think it sandblasted) and it had just been replace by PD ( just eh glass not the door itself-they previous frosting was ruined buy the cleaners). all good welllll...... the glass guy who replaced it said to leave it for a day and then told me to clean it with WD40- now all the frosted section has oil spottings big and small all over it it looks absolutely terrible. Any advice on how to clean it?? i would have never used wd40 on glass but HE told me to now i don't know how to remove the oil marks or clean it. Any window or glass experts know what to do?? Re: help needed!! 2Apr 14, 2009 1:53 pm oh ive never heard of using WD40 on glass before. Ive never had experience with it. Have you used anything else on it since?? I would be calling a glass company to ask them. you dont want to risk putting something else on it that will leave permanent damage. Crossed fingers for you. Re: help needed!! 5Apr 14, 2009 4:10 pm JoBen hels- i tried no go gonna try with detergent later - over it fat belly and all- tell me it's gonna be easier when bubs is out!!! So it is etched glass? Or film? Etched glass, you can clean with almost anything... all my old large format cameras had ground glass screens and good old detergent got them spotless. Film would be difficult.
