Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Mar 24, 2009 7:38 pm Hi, We plan to have a 2040mm x 920mm x 40mm entrance door with a 2040mm x 198mm x 40mm sidelight door. However, our CSC advised they only supply the sidelight door with 400mm of width. Thus, it doesn't suit in my entrance as our entrance has just 1200 width for the door. In this case, can I buy the entrance door and the sidelight door by myself and ask PD to install them? Thanks in advance!!! Don't hold that against me... And keen owner builder... Mainly the building part!! Re: Buy my own entrance door? 3Mar 26, 2009 8:17 pm chuth77 Best ask your CSC.... Be aware they may not extend the builders warranty to the door you supply! Thanks for your reply. We then decide not to buy the entrance door by ourselves... By the way, we just got a reply from our CSC that we couldn't make a 198mm-wide sidelight as PD only have the sidelight with the width of more than 330mm~ In this case, we have to go back to normal~~820mm-width door with two 160mm-width sidelights~~so bad~~! We haven't had our tender appointment yet, and every time as we ask the CSC about variations, she says that we need to wait for the tender appointment, so frustrating Re: Buy my own entrance door? 5Mar 29, 2009 2:02 pm iTalk Kikin, are you getting quotes from CSC before your tender appointment or after ? Yes, they dun give us any quotes beforehand as they said their "estimate team" were working on it.....just wondering how many ppl in that team!!!~ Metricon Amira Re: Buy my own entrance door? 6Mar 29, 2009 2:45 pm Yeah exactly. Let's see how much our site cost will be. This is the biggest concern as it might be as little at $7K or as much as $30K. We were able to get a rough price for most of the variations from people building with PD here in H1. Re: Buy my own entrance door? 7Mar 29, 2009 10:25 pm Kikin, We were told we could choose any corinthian door we liked as long as it fit in the space. We wanted a traditional sort of look so chose a door that had two glass panels in the top half (leadlight look) had a single matching sidelight that also had glass only in the top half. Hope that makes sense So no one could see in via the sidelight yet it would let light in and be a bit more secure. Perhaps have a look on the corinthian site and give your CSC some codes and get her/him to give you prices on any you like. Hope this helps Re: Buy my own entrance door? 8Mar 29, 2009 11:09 pm Back Pocket Kikin, We were told we could choose any corinthian door we liked as long as it fit in the space. Our front entry width is 1285mm and I requested for 920mm-width front door and 198mm-width sidelight...sadly, my CSC said it is not possible as the minimum width of sidelight PD provided is 300mm...I have no idea why it doesn't work!!! Now, I have to remain unchanged and have a small 820mm-width door with sidelights....wuwu~~ Metricon Amira Re: Buy my own entrance door? 9Apr 08, 2009 10:24 am If you ahve 1285mm opening why not go to a pivot door system with one large door approx 1200mm wide with glass panels
See link: http://www.corinthian.com.au/pivot-door-system/ Click on the pdf file on the page and you acn see sizes and other types. Beware these are NOT a cheap alternative but look smashing. regards Ben Re: Buy my own entrance door? 10Apr 09, 2009 3:52 pm kikin, Just letting you know that I had my tender appointment yesterday and I got the quote for the following inclusions, 2040x1020mm Entrance Door + 2x 2040x198mm Sidelights for $1097. I asked them that Corainthan (spelling!!) door do provide the 1200mm wide door but they said that's the maximum we can get. The warning is on the sticker on the door too. Second the aluminium powdercoat 6 18201 Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20417 I personally think pivot door are over the top, as you said a bit impractical having a small useless section and poor insulation. Iām pretty happy with a 920x 2040 with… 1 412 |
