We have them throughout the house with blockout in the bedrooms and the rumpus (media) room and light filtering elsewhere. They look great, make a big difference to heat/cold and are so easy to use. We also have them over our sliding doors.Only problem is one sticks out a bit over a bulky sliding door handle but it wouldn't be a problem if it was a more streamlined door. Beautiful Blinds and Merimy were great! Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 42Jun 01, 2010 9:12 pm dymonite69 Cannot you have longer cords? Thanks for the reply. Weell, theoretically we could have really long cords....but it will look terrible. So I'll have to find something else for those windows. At least until someone offers a remote honeycomb, which I'm sure will happen eventually. How about a large ring on the end that you can catch with a hook on a pole? Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 45Jun 02, 2010 2:12 pm dymonite69 How about a large ring on the end that you can catch with a hook on a pole? Hmm.... Now you are getting a bit ingenious...I wonder...I don't have any blinds delivered yet so don't know what the cord is like or how workable this would be. Do you think it would work, looking at how yours operate? Actually, we are turning 2 of the fixed clerestory windows into awning windows so we let heat escape in summer. The window manufacturer has to supply us with some sort of pole to open & close them so perhaps we could use the same pole. Starting to sound promising. Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 46Jun 11, 2010 10:46 am xquisite, I'd be really interested to know how you go with your clerestory windows. We have 6 of them, 4 of which are awnings, and we are looking at double glazing them. It might be cheaper though to go the honeycomb blind route. But like you I can't imagine getting the ladder out twice a day to open/shut them... Our veggie bed thread: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=38476 Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 47Jun 11, 2010 7:16 pm Hey Lonnie, i still haven't decided. Beautiful blinds can make up skylight cellular blinds. These sit inside a frame & they give you a pole to open & close them. Cjeck out the website. May be an option for you & cheaper than DG. Only issue for me is that they can only do 1520 wide & this would mean 10 separate blinds for my clerestory windows (annoying!). Luxaflex now do remote control duettes (gulp) which is v. tempting... I may just save for that option, especially if I can open & close them all with 1 remote. Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 48Jun 11, 2010 7:36 pm Thanks for that information, xquisite. I'm off to look at the Luxaflex website. And yes, one remote instead of 10 would be so much easier Our veggie bed thread: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=38476 Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 49Jun 12, 2010 6:05 pm I found out last night that Victory also do remote cellulars. no idea what their blinds are like 'cos i didn't even know they did cellular blinds at all. Also, somfy do remote control systems for existing blinds. i'm thinking os waiting until my BB ones get delivered & seeing if they have a system for them. Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 50Jun 12, 2010 6:32 pm Just had a look at Victory - they don't have a sales outlet here, unfortunately. But Somfy do have an agent here. Thanks xquisite Our veggie bed thread: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=38476 Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 51Dec 12, 2010 9:24 am i'm looking at putting in cellular blinds/duettes/honeycomb - they're called so many things by so many places. Anyway - i've seen here that there are a number of people on this thread who had various types of these installed, and i was wondering if anyone has experience with them and kittens. The fabric that i've seen for these looks like it would literally get ripped to shreds if a kitten got a claw in, let alone took a flying leap. i know that no fabric-based window covering will be truly kitten-proof, for those kittens who like them, but i'd prefer to find something that is both extremely insulating, and won't need to be replaced after the first interaction between kitten and covering. Any experiences, or suggestions? Thanks in advance Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 52Dec 12, 2010 9:58 am Get a sample from a manufacturer and let your cat go crazy. But I'd suspect they wouldn't hold up too well. Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 53May 06, 2013 5:34 pm Sorry to drag up an old thread, but wondering if anyone has had any recent experiences with beautiful blinds. I'm looking to head down this path. Re: heat blocking window treatments, honeycomb? sunscreen?he 54May 06, 2013 6:45 pm President Bartlett Sorry to drag up an old thread, but wondering if anyone has had any recent experiences with beautiful blinds. I'm looking to head down this path. Initial service was good. The smaller blinds work fine. Material does crease if bent. Some problems with construction of the the large width blinds - cords snapped from the weight. A request for a new mechanism failed to get delivery despite several conversations. I managed to fix it all myself. I am now an expert at deconstructing and making my own honeycomb blinds.
