I would love to hear from anyone who has got anodised aluminium windows in their home. I am thinking of choosing them for our project so would like any feedback..... any reason I should not buy them?
Thanks,
Carol

Thanks, Carol Re: anodised aluminium windows 2Jan 22, 2009 7:15 pm I don't have them (since my house has not been build yet), but I will be using anodised aluminium windows. I think they look nice and they never need recoating!
Builders don't particularly like them since they can be scratched during construction and it's important not to get concrete/mortar on them sine it will whiten the area. But once there in, everything should be sweet. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: anodised aluminium windows 3Jan 22, 2009 7:42 pm Hey cazz79,
If you do choose to get them make sure yo inspect them once they are delivered for any markings and alert the manufcaturer if you find anything. It is v ery comman to have markings on powder coated windows during delivery. Normally once installed and bricked up you would call the window company up to do a "service" and touch up with paint, this will be too late for you. Also ask the bricklayer to pay carefull attention to the windows and wipe off any mortar with a brush that has been dipped in water. This will turn "dags" into dust and will then come off with water. If it is what you like than go for it. Dont let a bit of extra preparation/care scare you. I am sure it will look great when it is all installed. I will definitely inspect them closely when they are delivered, good that its COD i guess. I might even go to the trouble of plastic wrapping them just as an extra precaution. I know that they look fantastic but just dont want to regret it later..... I don't know them all, the first 2 top of your list are best known. Rylock is a good company, Stegbar is for sale. 4 16232 4 14292 |
