Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Has anyone got Dowell double glazed windows? 4Dec 25, 2008 7:35 pm Teddy Bär This double glazed window is simply a single glaze window frame/runners that has not been beefed up in any way for the extra weight. This was very evident when we checked out these windows at their showroom here in Canberra. The windows 'rolled' with distinct flats spots and I could not imagine this window standing up well to real use. We were so disappointed in their double glazed windows that we considered changing builders, that said in the end we changed builders for other reasons and are now going with our 1st choice in double glazed windows, the Trend XP Quantum range. The Dowell window you speak of is a sliding window. There is no reason why this should have "flats" on the roller system. Sliding doors use the same principle with no problem. The rollers are easily replaced. There is no Dowell double glazed sliding window in WERS, though I belive it exists. The figures I quoted are for the awning window. The Trend window's energy performance is slightly lower than the Dowell window and trhe window is a lot more expensive than Dowell.
